The place

Michamvi, the sunset coast

A peninsula between the lagoon and the Indian Ocean.

Michamvi Kae

A timeless horizon

Far from the noise of the world, the Michamvi peninsula stretches between the Indian Ocean and Chwaka Bay. Here nature still keeps its purest secrets: shallow, warm lagoons, the whitest sand, palm trees and mangroves.

The rhythm of the tides sets a restorative calm: at low tide the lagoon becomes a mosaic of turquoise water and sandbanks to be explored on foot.

Kae Beach

Where the sun sets over the sea

Michamvi is one of the rare places on Zanzibar's east coast where the sun sets over the water. Every evening the sky above Kae Beach glows with fire and poetry, as traditional dhows sail home.

Zanzibar, the Spice Island

An island that has always blended peoples, languages and traditions: the Swahili culture of Stone Town, the scents of the spice plantations, life in the fishing villages, the coral reef and the forests. A place with many reasons to arrive and even more to return.
